Tivo Releases TivoToGo

Tivo today released the TivoToGo feature that allows Tivo users to transfer television programs from their Tivo to a computer. When a solution from Sonic ships you will also be able to burn the transfered programs to DVD via the PC. For more information I recommend this post on the TivoCommunity.com forum. If you’re interested in playing with this feature and don’t have a Tivo, I’ve still got one left for sale after deciding to turn off my Tivo.

A few notes about TivoToGo:

1. No support for the Mac. The application works on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. No dates around a Mac version of Tivo Desktop
2. Tivo units with built in DVDs cannot be upgraded to TivoToGo. (Humax, Toshiba, and Pioneer customers are out of luck for now)
3. Tivo used Windows Media Player 10 as the building blocks for TivoToGo on the PC. Thank you Tivo ;-)

The TivoToGo feature is cool. Since I have all this functionality and much more in my Media Center PC and the Comcast 6412 unit is working great I am still selling my Tivos. I’ve got one left. If you’re looking to play with this feature and don’t have a Tivo, drop me a line with the contact link at the lower right and I’ll sell you my last one.
