Skype 1.1 Setup Just Hangs

Has anyone gotten Skype 1.1 to install? I’m building out this laptop while writing a tutorial on how to Podcast on XP and Skype setup won’t run. The process just hangs. It looks like other users are encountering the same problem.

Any suggestions?

Postscript: Omar came up with a solution in my comments that worked. To install Skype 1.1 I had to boot XP into safe mode (without networking support) Here are the steps you need to take:

1. Download Skype 1.1 to your local machine
2. Reboot Windows XP and hold down F8 to get the boot menu
3. Select Safe mode without networking support (I tried with Networking and it still failed)
4. Log onto XP with your administrator account
5. Run Skype setup

Result? Joy! Skype 1.1 will install. Thanks Omar.
