Rules of engagement for my team

My team at Microsoft is quite lively as it includes both the folks behind Channel 9 and Evangelists for both Visual Studio 2005 and also Longhorn.

What I absolutely love about our team is the lively debates we have about strategy, technology and our overall direction as a team and company. The amazing thing is no matter how spirited the discussion gets or how much might disagree about an item, we aways leave the discussion as friends and with mutual respect.

I snapped the photo below from the whiteboard at a school that Josie (my 5 year old daughter) was visiting over the weekend.

You know it seems that the rules we give our kids are also great rules of engagment for a team.

I think these rules could also apply to panel discussions and of course the unconferences we all go to now a days.
