Powdered Shakes, Working out and getting into the flow of a new job

What an amazing week!

I’ve made it through the first 7 days of the 20/20 program. The past week has been full of big changes for me. The first part is the diet change which has been hard but not impossible. I met with my dietician and she gave me a bunch of vitamins and minerals (fish oil caplets, calcium and daily multi vitamins), a log book to record eactly what I eat each day, the calories and the total fat.

The more important part that she gave me was a box of metabolic protein shakes and a menu for 7 days that looks something like this:

Breakfast
Protein Powder + 1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter + 1 Teaspoon Fiber Powder + 1/2 Cup Berries

Morning Snack
Protein Powder + 1/2 Cup Berries

Lunch
Protein Powder + 1/2  Cup Berries + 6 ounces Tuna + 1 Teaspoon Mayo

Afternoon Snack
Protein Powder + 1 /2 Cup Berries

Dinner
Protein Powder + 1/2 Cup Berries + 6 ounces of a boneless chicken breast

I can substitute blueberries, strawberries, blackberries or marionberries in for the berries and a variety of lean proteins for the meals. I am still allowed to have 8 ounces of coffee (black no sugar, no cream) per day, but have noticed that I am not having it very often. I am also drinking over 64 ounces of water per day.

Its been hard, lots of withdrawl symptoms (headaches, grumpyness,  moodyness) but not as bad as I had thought. I friend who went through this awhile back recommended to me that I try and taper off coffee and sugars well before I started this first phase. Doing so was a big help and made this a lot easier.

In addition to this I am working out with a trainer 3 times per week (lots of cardio and some weight training) and am working on my own twice per week (jogging).

So most importantly not to ask what I am doing, how am I doing? I feel awesome. I am not hungry throughout the day, I am passed the detox period and the headaches are gone. The workout sessions are great and last night was the first time that I’ve felt a bit sore from my workout.

Only 21 more weeks to go!
