Playing with a release candidate of Dasblog 1.7

I’m part of an early test pool for Dasblog 1.7 and am testing a possible release candidate for Omar tonight. Lots of new features, bug fixes and improved performance. We had one gremlin in this build where comments weren’t working, but Omar got that fixed too so you can now add comments on my blog.

You can read the complete feature list for Dasblog 1.7 over on the Wiki, here are some of my favorites…

Podcasting Support
You can browse to a local file, it will sniff the mimetype, calculate the file size and add the enclosure tag to the RSS feed.

Spam Protection
My comments now have captcha enabled and I have a referral spam blacklist, I referrers are now back online and are useful!

Performance
Major performance improvements in this release, I can totally tell just browsing my blog how much faster it is now.

Thank you Dasblog 1.7 Development team and especially Omar and Scott for helping evolve Dasblog.
