In the spring of 2003 Microsoft opened its kimono with Channel 9 and today we’re popping our fly.
Sorry, couldn’t resist, cool name though.
I’ve been a fanboy of Project Springfield since I heard about it late last summer. In a nutshell Popfly is an easy way to build mashups, gadgets, Web pages, and applications.
Rory interviewed the team behind the project earlier this week and posted a video to Channel 9 a few moments ago with the team and John Montgomery piles on with The Genesis of Popfly and why he thinks it is cool over on his blog.
As I’ve been writing a lot lately. It is an amazing time to be at Microsoft.
One interesting story behind this is of course Silverlight. The Popfly team pulled this entire experience together in about 6 months. Try and do stuff like this that quickly in Javascript and HTML. ;-) It really shows the power of Silverlight and the ability to deliver rich internet applications that work cross platform quickly.
Really looking forward to hearing what people say when they get their hands on Popfly. More over on TechMeme.
