Microsoft MGX and Channels 9 and 10

22 Jul

Well, today for me marks the end of a pretty amazing week and the beginning of a big year for my team at Microsoft. I’ve been down in Orlando, Florida all week attending MGX.

MGX is an internal Microsoft conference for our global sales folks and our Evangelists worldwide.  We use MGX to celebrate the accomplishments of the last year and communicate the strategy for the coming year to our teams around the year.  I look at MGX as a reality check for what we’ve done and what we’re about to do.  I get to meet the folks who keep us corporate guys employed by selling products, connecting with everyone out in the world and doing the real work.  I always find it both rewarding, inspiring and it super charges me for the coming year.

This last week was a whirlwind as we launched what we’re calling version 1.0 of 10 and I kicked off an expansion for my team and Evangelism overall.  We’re broadening our scope to include Enthusiasts and will be adding a few folks around the globe to connect with individuals at unconferences, deliver demos of Vista and Office and to create media content for 10.  It is really a big learning curve for me as I am now learning what it means to help drive an effort with folks from around the globe.

This is also what the Enthusiast Manifesto that we wrote for 10 is all about, it is not just a guiding compass for 10, but also for this Enthusiast Evangelism Effort as well.   One cause, one dream, one team.

I’ll talk more about this soon, but its shaping up to be a very interesting year.
