I've turned off my Tivo, I no longer need it.
Its been a great product that I've evangelized to friends, family and co-workers. I no longer need it though as I've replaced it with a new PVR that Comcast just brought onto the market.
It is a great unit and my the wife acceptance factor was high. (she's using it now and totally gets how to use it).
You can watch a video here of the user experience or geek out on the AVSForum for more detailed information.
What I love most is that it has dual tuners. I can record one program while I watch another or even record two programs at the same time. This is something I've always wanted to do with my Tivo but it was only available if I got a DirectTivo and a Satellite dish. I don't want a dish out the front of my home.
I love the fact that it supports recording of HDTV, this is somethign that Tivo hasn't announced plans on yet for cable. I believe they've got an HDTV box for Direct TV, but I think its in the $1000 range. Added bonus no more delay delay while changing channels. The Tivo had a minor interruption while changing channels as it had to send a blast of infrared to the cable box. Now with an integrated unit in the cable box I don't have to deal with that.
I know I can't hack the unit, or show pictures or play music with it, but this is a nice unit and I can put my Tivos on eBay. For my power user scenarios I've got a Windows Media Center PC running upstairs in our bedroom.
Congratulations Comcast and the folks on the Media Foundation Team on a great product.
Thanks Tivo for teaching me about how a PVR will change your life and give me control over my TV. I look forward to a future of possibilities with Media Center and Media Foundation!
