Ok, my wife is sleeping right now and I am sitting here in Delhi and what’s running through my mind is when my wife will hear the news about the terrorist plot being thwarted in London. Charles, Laura and I are watching the BBC news here in Delhi and are pretty freaked out.
The way we understand it now is that certain American airlines like United, Continental and American were targetted by terrorists. As of right now the measures being taken by authorities are that no carry on bags are allowed on flights and you are only allowed to bring on prescription medications and your travel documents. Nothing else. Good plan I say, whatever to make folks safe. They have approximately 20 people in custody in London of British descent and the attacks were not necessarily for today, tonight, for the next few days but soon. The authorities decided to step in and make the arrests.
I’m pretty shaken as I right this, not sure whether to call home now and wake my wife to let her know. I know that if I do call her then she’ll stay awake all night watching television and probably not have anymore information and just have to watch repeats of the information which is on hand. So sweetie, I decided to let you sleep tonight as I am sure you won’t sleep well until I am home.

We were trying figure out if we should try and re-route and take a different way home… I think we’re probably best to stick with our plan in hand which is British Airways to London and then back home to Seattle. I suspect that due to all the cancellations there will be much fewer flights and any changes could possibly result of getting bumped off of a flight home. So many flights have been cancelled today it will take days for things to get back on track.
This sucks.
So say a prayer for safe travels for all and of course sanity in an insane world.
Our evening will be interesting and a change of a pace from the afternoon of watching the BBC. Tonight are the short film finals where all of the students watch the films created in entirety while in Agra and vote for the best. I am definitely looking for the diversion.
