Like many folks, tonight I'm recuperating from a great week at CES. Channel 10 gave an exclusive look at a lot of new products from Microsoft and the industry as a whole. We've actually got a few more videos to get up over the next few days.
The week was more stressful than ever as we're in the final stages of selling our current home and finalizing the purchase of another. CES + Home Sale + 5000 other things going on at work resulted in a pretty frazzled Jeff.
To avoid to the almost inevitable post CES flu bug I'm downing a glass of airborne and relaxing tonight. It is a relaxing evening at home though. Lauri is out with our oldest daughter at the movies and Josie is completely occupied with a friend who is over for a sleepover.
Me, I've got an MTV HD Bon Jovi + Sugarland special on the big screen. I've got the music cranked up and am kicking back on the couch, about to change out the Airborne for a rum and coke. Kind of cool, Bon Jovi was one of my favorite bands in highschool and Sugarland I started following last summer I think.
Right now they are playing one of my favorite songs of the summer which was Who Says You Can't Go Home. It wasn't until tonight where I learnt that the background of the song surrounds around Jon Bon Jovi's community passion:
The lyrics to "Who Says You Can't Go Home" reflects on lead-singer Jon Bon Jovi's own personal passion for his community and New Jersey roots and encourages others to never forget and to be proud of where they came from. In addition, the song's music video, featuring Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, features Habitat for Humanity volunteers building homes for low-income families and was used to promote the organization while another version of music video features a man in dog suit.
I'll always be a fan of people who don't forget where they came from and a big turn off for me are folks who shy away from where they are from. This is one awesome special though. Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland fits in great with Jon Bon Jovi on stage and its great to see her sing Bon Jovi songs and Bon Jovi playing Sugarland songs. They are now playing my second favorite song of last year Baby Girl. Definitely some lyrics in their that remind me of my college life. ;-)
Dear Mom and Dad,
Please send money,
I'm so broke that it ain't funny.
I don't need much just enough to get me through.
Please don't worry 'cause I'm alright.
(I'm playin here at the bar tonight)
This time I'm gonna make our dreams come true...
Well I love you more than anything in the world.
Anyhow, a perfect evening for me. I hope you all are resting up from your week too.
