This past week we got some good news regarding Josie and her hip...
When we last left you the advice we had gotten from the surgeon was that, "It may or not get better in the next couple of years, we'll have to wait and see". We took this advice back to Josie's primary physician and he was dissapointed, actually visibly troubled. He couldn't believe no X-Rays were taken or that certain specific tests weren't completed. He set up another referral with a different physician this time at Swedish Medical Center.
The Doctor we were referred to was much more thorough and took x-rays this time of Josie and the good news is all is well. Josie does have a "toe in dysplasia". Many years ago they might have put a brace on her, that we now know would not do a thing to fix her ailment and probably would do more damage mentally. They don't do that anymore.
We learnt that a number of athletes have this time of dysplasia. One example is John Elway. He has this same "toe in" problem and it makes him a super fast runner. (Or so says this third Doctor from Denver :-))
So thank you all for your kind comments on my previous post and your private e-mails. When I wrote my feelings publicly, I did so as a bit of therapy. I was blown away by all the kind words from you all and the number of referrers from Google possible from parents looking for information on their own kids. I guess I do have more than 7 subscribers :->
