Everyone is getting ready to head off to Las Vegas for Mix and some folks from our team are already there. You can feel the energy building up through the blogs and inside the halls of Microsoft as we near day one of Mix. I came to work at Microsoft because of the World Wide Live events and have been a part of building these things at our company all the way back to the Denver PDC. The build up prior reminds me of the intro to the U2 - Streets have no name video, the folks knew something special was about to happen.
One of the things we've been working on is getting the Mix site up ready for media publishing just like we do today with Channels 9 and 10. During the event we'll be posting partner demos, sessions, fun moments from the event, interviews and daily recaps. Tim O'Brien and I will be doing the daily recaps.
After the event is done the site will live on with Joshua Allen (Microsoft's first blogger) driving regular content for our team. The idea behind the site is for it to be a place to connect the dots with what we're doing as a company in the web space. There will be some videos, text posts and moe. Should be pretty useful. I'm pretty excited about that. Its kind of interesting that historically a lot of events are created out of publishing ventures. Think about how TechCrunch20 and Maker's Faire were created from existing publishing ventures. At Microsoft we took the opposite approach. Channel 9 was created with the dream of having a PDC every day of the year online and now with Mix we're attempting to bring that spirit online too.
See you all at the event, make sure you update the wiki and drop by the BlogZone.
