Josie and I have been on the road since Sunday morning for our big trip.  We decided to delay our departure by a day so we could pack, get the windshield repaired on my car and make sure we're rested up.

It has been a wonderful trip.  We have put on almost 1300 miles so far and have put a few photos up on our Flickr set in the process of getting here.  On day one Josie and I drove from Seattle to Salmon Arm, B.C. staying at friend's place with wonderful views of the Shuswap

The next day it was on to Calgary, Alberta.  We drove through the infamous Rogers Pass and lost count of the number of waterfalls.   We really enjoyed the amazing mountain views and even saw a bighorn sheep on the roadside.  We ended up the day in Calgary, Alberta staying with our cousins Janice and Yarek.  This was probably Josie's favorite part of the trip so far as they had a trampoline and girls to play with! :-)

Yesterday we drove on to Estevan, Saskatchewan from Calgary.  It is a long drive (about 11 hours) and no turns to speak of on the highway.   Saskatchewan is the place you can watch your dog run away for 2 days.  We made a pit stop in Medicine Hat to see a friend of mine that I haven't seen since I moved to the states and then continued on our way to Estevan.  We arrived last night at about 8:30 pm with the Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettle's chorus on my mind.

I spent 20 years trying to get out of this place
I was looking for something I couldn't replace
I was running away from the only thing I've ever known
Like a blind dog without a bone
I was a gypsy lost in the twilight zone
I hijacked a rainbow and crashed into a pot of gold
I been there, done that and I ain't lookin' back on the seeds I've sown,
Saving dimes, spending too much time on the telephone
Who says you can't go home

Today we're recharging, hanging out with mom and dad and taking short trips out to visit friends and family.   Definitely a change of pace for me.  Tonight I'm off to go fishing with a few friends out at the Boundary Dam Reservoir.  Its hot here (90+ degrees).  While I am doing that Josie is going to the annual fair with Mom and Dad.

So far so good. Where to next? :-)
