7 Day Software on 10

Wednesday, July 12 2006 - Uncategorized

Back in 2004 I wrote about how if a piece of software is good enough for seven days, I'll buy it.  Since then a number of other bloggers have picked this up as way to talk about good, quality software and services. The idea is that once you've used a piece of software for seven days you'll know whether it is a keeper or not.  In fact that is about the point that I decide to uninstall and never use sofware again if it is a dud.  Over the years a number of applications like Office, Jasc Paintshop Pro (now Corel), Flickr, and Newsgator's FeedDemon have passed that test for me.  There are many more of course.

Seven Day Software includes things that I install right away whenever I build out a new machine and services that I use on a daily basis.

As part of our 1.0 release of 10, we plan to regularly highlight software that passes this test for us and of course our members.  We're hoping you'll share with us what is in your software arsenal so that we can share tgether great applications and services. We're planning to launch 10 Version 1.0 this Friday. The team has poured their hearts and souls into this update.  In this release we'll have made the first step towards a core platform which we will ultimately run both Channel 9 and 10.  It is all built using Visual Studio Team System, ASP.NET, Atlas and SQL 2005 and is something we're quite proud of.

With 10 1.0 we continue to refine the content and site based on feedback from our members and the blogosphere.  We hope that 10 becomes a a place that you'll visit regularly to check in on people and learn how they are using technology to change the world.

9, 10 and now 7 --- Yes, we do have a thing for numbers on my team. :-)
